New Assam Portal Aims to Ease Financial Burden on Venture School Teachers

The Assam government has officially launched the Guru Dakshina portal to provide financial support to teachers of venture educational institutions who have not had their services provincialised. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to rectify the situation for affected teachers. The portal, overseen by the Department of School Education and Department of Higher Education, can be accessed at www.gurudakshinaportal.org. It serves as a centralized digital platform where eligible teachers can submit applications, upload necessary documents, and monitor the status of their submissions in a transparent and organized manner.

Eligible applicants include teachers from venture education institutions at various levels—ranging from Lower Primary (LP) to Degree College—whose employment has not been provincialized despite their institutions being recognized under The Assam Venture Educational Institutions (Provincialization of Services) Act, 2011, and The Assam Education (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Re-organization of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017. Furthermore, retired teachers who were similarly affected, as well as nominees of deceased teachers who can provide legal heir certificates, are also permitted to apply. The launch of this portal signifies a crucial step in supporting a vital segment of Assam’s educational workforce.
