Indian government has appointment new governors for nine states including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur & Sikkim. President Droupadi Murmu appointed Lakshman Prasad Acharya as new governor of state, Assam with additional charges as Governor of Manipur as well.
Outgoing Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria is now appointed as Governor of Punjab.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has welcomed the new Governor, he said, “Hon’ble Shri Laxman Acharya Ji has devoted his life empowering the poor. He has a rich organisational and legislative experience with an excellent tenure as the Governor of Sikkim.I am confident he will be an outstanding Governor for our state. My best wishes on his new assignment.”
The Assam CM has also thanked Gulab Chand Kataria for his contribution for the state during his tenure in Assam.
