SUNDERLAND, UK – Nissan’s Sunderland plant has commenced production of the newly upgraded Qashqai, heralding significant enhancements for the UK’s best-selling crossover. The original crossover, which revolutionized the market nearly 18 years ago, now features Nissan’s innovative e-POWER system and advanced technology.
With over four million units sold globally, the latest Qashqai comes with a bold new design and improved customer experience features. The production launch follows a £30 million investment in the Sunderland facility, adding to Nissan’s total £6 billion UK investment. The new model, priced from £30,135, will be available for order next month.Adam Pennick, Vice President for Manufacturing at Nissan UK, emphasized the pride in Sunderland being the home of Qashqai, and highlighted the integration of advanced driver assistance systems and Google built-in technology in the updated model.
The Sunderland plant also manufactures the JUKE and all-electric LEAF, supporting 7,000 jobs and 30,000 more in the supply chain. This development aligns with Nissan’s EV36Zero initiative, aiming for zero emissions in both driving and manufacturing, setting a benchmark for future automotive production.Diana Torres, Managing Director of Nissan GB, remarked, “The Qashqai’s unique combination of design, performance, and technology continues to set it apart.
