There are extra days for the first semi-final and final of the T20 World Cup. But the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not kept any extra days for the second semi-final. India will play in this second semi-final only. Rohit Sharma will play against England in that match. What if the semi-final is rained out?
The India-England match will be played in Guyana. If the match is abandoned there on Thursday due to rain, it will be to India’s advantage. They reached the semi-finals from the top of the Super 8 group. England were second in their group. Because of that, India will get additional benefits. If the game is lost, the Rohites will go to the final.
Note that there is an 88 percent chance of rain in Guyana on Thursday. The drainage system of the playing field is also not very good. If there is heavy rain before the match, the outfield may be wet. In that case, the start of the game will be delayed. If it rains during the match, it is not possible to play. The possibility of losing the match cannot be ruled out.
Even if there is no extra day, more time will be given to make this match. The ICC and Cricket West Indies have allocated an extra 4 hours and 10 minutes for this match. Rain may delay the start of play or reduce the number of overs. But there is no arrangement to organize the match the next day.
Why such arrangements? According to the ICC, the final of the World Cup will be held on June 29. Both the finalists will be taken to Bridgetown on June 28. In other words, the two teams that reached the final have to go to another country in the West Indies to play the final. So no match could be held on June 28.
