NSDC International Academy launched to boost India’s global workforce

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, inaugurated the NSDC International Academy, a cutting-edge facility aimed at enhancing India’s global employment prospects. The academy will train youth in industry-relevant skills and foreign languages, aligning with workforce demands in Germany, Japan, Israel, and the UK.

During the event, Chaudhary flagged off 11 candidates departing for Germany, toured the academy’s AI and VR-enabled labs, and interacted with students. Emphasizing India’s growing role in the global economy, he stated, “A Viksit Bharat by 2047 requires skilled individuals ready for global challenges. Our skilling budget has nearly doubled to ₹6,100 crores, strengthening initiatives like this academy.”

NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tiwari highlighted that every third or fourth worker joining the global workforce in the next 25 years will be Indian, positioning India as a key player in the dollar economy. With Guwahati emerging as a skill development hub, the academy’s globally recognized training programs will open international career avenues for Assam’s youth. Additionally, businesses in Guwahati can leverage a better-trained workforce, enhancing local economic prospects. With a target of training 1,000 candidates annually, advanced labs, and residential facilities for 500 students, the academy marks a major step toward India’s workforce transformation.
