Passport Seva Mobile Van Launched In Guwahati

A mobile passport seva van service for the Northeast was launched on Saturday at Gauhati University by Dr. KJ Srinivasa, Joint Secretary for the Passport Seva Project and Chief Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs. The van aims to reach remote and rural areas, enabling citizens to submit passport applications easily and ensuring last-mile delivery of services.

Currently, six Passport Seva Kendras and 19 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras serve six northeastern states under the Guwahati Regional Passport Office (RPO). Dr. Srinivasa noted that the van serves as a “one-stop shop” for all passport-related processes.

Each of India’s 37 RPOs has been allotted one such van, with a possibility of more in the future. The launch reaffirmed the MEA’s commitment to accessible and citizen-friendly services.

During his visit, Dr. Srinivasa also interacted with key officials, inspected the Guwahati RPO and PSK, and met with Governor Laxman Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, both of whom praised the Ministry’s efficient service delivery.
