In a major operation against organized gambling, Sonapur Police raided the upscale Club Nirvana on the outskirts of Guwahati, uncovering a high-stakes casino-style gambling setup reportedly involving transactions worth several crores.
The early morning raid resulted in the arrest of four individuals from Aizawl, Mizoram—Lalchanhima Sailo, Lalfakawma Ralte, Lalring Heta, and Joseph Lalparmawia. Staff and management of the club were also detained for questioning regarding their role in the illegal activity.
DCP (East) Mrinal Deka confirmed the bust, stating that casino chips, cash, liquor, and other items were seized from the premises. He added that a case has been registered and strict action will be taken.
The raid followed specific intelligence inputs about ongoing illegal gambling at the club over the past few days. Entry was fully restricted during the operation, and all present were thoroughly searched.
This isn’t the first time Club Nirvana has faced police action—it was previously raided over IPL betting. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader network behind the racket.
