The family of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was brutally k*lled during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, held a solemn puja on Thursday at the exact location of the crime. The rituals took place at a secluded parking spot near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra, where the tragedy unfolded. Raja’s relatives, including his elder brother Vipin Raghuvanshi, travelled to the site to offer prayers and find some spiritual closure following the horrific incident that shocked the nation.
“We had to come to the place where our Raja took his last breath. It’s heartbreaking, but necessary for us,” said an emotional Vipin after the ceremony. Raja had gone missing with his wife Sonam on May 23 during their honeymoon. Ten days later, his mutilated body was found in a 30-foot gorge, showing signs of being hacked with machetes.
Investigations revealed that Raja was murdered by three men from Indore, allegedly at the behest of his wife Sonam, who had been in a relationship with Raj Kushwaha. All five accused, including Sonam, are now in judicial custody. His family is demanding swift justice.
