RGL Labs will stay in Assam; ONGC assures unwavering support for regional development

ONGC acknowledges that there is no plan to move the current Regional Geosciences Lab (RGL) from Sivsagar, in reaction to recent press reports about the lab’s relocation from Assam that have appeared in a few newspapers.

ONGC reaffirms continued presence of Regional Geosciences Lab (RGL) in Assam.
In order to cater to the growing operational requirements of entire North East Region in general and Assam in particular, a new RGL with State of the Art Technology has also been constructed in Jorhat. It will also play a significant role towards providing access to resources fostering a conducive environment for learning, skill development and research works for students of NE Region. Further current RGL building at Sivsagar has also been renovated to provide better working conditions.


ONGC has reassured local organizations of its commitment to Assam’s economic and social development, stating that it is focused on enhancing operational efficiency and achieving excellence in its operations, with internal organizational adjustments being part of its continuous efforts to improve service delivery. ONGC, a key player in Assam’s economy and social fabric, is dedicated to community welfare through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, focusing on critical areas like healthcare, education, infrastructure, and skill development.
