Sadhguru receives CIF Global Indian Award 2024, allocates prize for Cauvery initiative

Sadhguru, the renowned Indian yogi and founder of the Isha Foundation, has been honored with the CIF Global Indian Award 2024 by the Canada India Foundation (CIF). This prestigious accolade recognizes individuals of Indian origin who have significantly impacted the global landscape, acknowledging Sadhguru’s influential work in fostering a Conscious Planet and addressing environmental challenges.

Ritesh Malik, Chair of CIF, expressed his honor in presenting the award, stating, “Sadhguru’s teachings resonate with Canada’s focus on individual well-being and sustainability.” He emphasized the importance of Sadhguru’s insights in combating issues like climate change and mental health, aligning perfectly with Canada’s public health priorities.

In his acceptance speech, Sadhguru dedicated the CAD 50,000 prize money to Cauvery Calling, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revitalizing the Cauvery River. The project seeks to enhance farmers’ economies by planting 242 crore trees on private farmlands, with over 111 million trees planted to date. In Guwahati, local businesses and environmental groups view Sadhguru’s recognition as a catalyst for sustainability initiatives. His focus on environmental preservation aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to promote eco-friendly practices, inspiring community engagement and investment in green projects.
