The foundation stone of the “Sakhi Niwas,” or Working Women Hostel, was placed on Monday in Dimalgaon, Kokrajhar district, marking a major step towards empowering working women and advancing gender-friendly infrastructure. Gautam Das, EM, BTC, the in-charge of Women and Child Development, graced the function. “Sakhi Niwas” seeks to give working women from various industries safe and reasonably priced housing, creating a safe environment that promotes their general wellbeing and career goals.
MLA Lawrence Islary, WCD Director Gauri Shankar Sarma, WCD Secretary BTC Phami Brahma, and WCD Joint Director-cum-CHD BTC Samir Das were also present at the ceremony. Officials from the Women and Child Development department, such as Child Development Project Officers, supervisors, the Mission Shakti team and District Poshan Abhiyaan, Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and local citizens, also attended the session.
