Over a hundred young innovators from Guwahati recently took center stage at Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ event, hosted at IIT Guwahati and the Royal Global University. The event, designed to ignite creativity and tackle pressing societal issues, witnessed an outpouring of innovative ideas from participants ranging from 14 to 22 years old, all eager to combat environmental challenges.
Enthusiastic participants showcased a myriad of solutions aimed at addressing environmental degradation, including waste management, air quality improvement, water purity enhancement, and climate resilience strategies. Their passion highlighted the significance of platforms like Samsung’s ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ in nurturing and amplifying youthful voices committed to making a positive impact in their communities. The event featured esteemed guest Dr. Jatin Wahane, a recipient of the Karamveer Chakra award and a distinguished rocket scientist, who shared valuable insights and encouraged students to think boldly in their quest to tackle real-world problems.
Samsung’s collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s Startup Hub, FITT at IIT Delhi, and the United Nations in India underscores a shared commitment to cultivating the next generation of innovators. This year, ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ introduces two tracks – School Track and Youth Track, each focusing on distinct themes: “community and inclusion” for ages 14-17, and “environment and sustainability” for ages 18-22. The initiative provides hands-on training, mentorship, and grants to develop prototypes, with winning teams securing substantial grants for further incubation and development.
