Second Assam Assembly Building to Come Up in Dibrugarh; Foundation Laid by Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for Assam’s second legislative assembly complex in Dibrugarh, aimed at bringing governance closer to residents in Upper Assam. The project, valued at Rs 284 crore, includes the assembly complex and an MLA hostel, as part of efforts to position Dibrugarh as an administrative hub. Shah also inaugurated several other projects, including wetland restoration, expansion of Khanikar Stadium, and the Institute of Wildlife Health and Research. He emphasized the government’s priority on development and welfare projects in modern Assam, contrasting it with the previous Congress era marked by violence and unrest. The event was attended by key figures including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other regional MPs, MLAs, ministers, and senior officials.
