Sivasagar Demow Incident: Accused in Domestic Violence Case Killed in Police Firing

A domestic violence incident in the Dirai Tea Garden area of Demow, Assam, on Tuesday night resulted in panic and tragedy. Ranjit Pandav allegedly attacked his wife and a neighbor, Motin Pandav, with a machete during a domestic dispute. This occurred around 8 pm amidst fog when screams for help alerted Motin, who attempted to intervene. As Motin tried to rescue Ranjit’s wife, he was attacked and severely injured, bleeding on the courtyard floor. The police responded to the situation; however, Ranjit fled towards a betel nut plantation and was shot in the leg when he tried to escape. He was critically injured and later died in hospital. Both the injured neighbor and the woman were transported to Assam Medical College Hospital for advanced care. The incident has left the tea garden area tense, with police conducting an ongoing investigation.
