Swiggy partners with Robin Hood Army to launch ‘Swiggy Serves,’ targets 50 million meals by 2030

Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform, has launched ‘Swiggy Serves,’ a flagship initiative to combat food wastage and hunger. In collaboration with the Robin Hood Army (RHA), a volunteer-driven organization, the program aims to redistribute surplus food from restaurant partners to underserved communities, with an ambitious goal of delivering 50 million meals by 2030.

The pilot phase has already yielded promising results, with over 2,000 meals redistributed across 33 cities, supported by 126 restaurant partners, including brands like Biryani by the Kilo and Charcoal Eats. Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, highlighted Swiggy’s mission to reduce food waste while addressing hunger, leveraging its logistics expertise to create social impact.

In Guwahati, the initiative has resonated with the city’s thriving restaurant market. With a diverse food culture and significant surplus from eateries, Guwahati holds immense potential to contribute to the program. Restaurant owners in the region have shown enthusiasm, viewing it as an opportunity to engage in community-driven efforts while reducing operational waste.India, home to 195 million undernourished people, ranks 105th in the 2024 Global Hunger Index. Swiggy’s initiative aligns with its broader sustainability goals, transforming surplus food into a resource to combat hunger. Restaurant partners can join via the Swiggy Owner app, with RHA volunteers ensuring efficient food redistribution.
