Terrorist footprints found in Assam, peoples are in panic

Tracing the footprints of Pakistan-based terrorist organization JeM in Assam is now a big worry. The organization operated mostly in Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, the group’s operations have been identified in the northeast. According to security sources, Pakistan’s ISI assisted in the formation of the JeM. The group has attempted to persuade its members to travel to Jammu & Kashmir and engage in violence. The outfit’s footprints in other regions of the country were discovered during a statewide raid undertaken by the NIA using technical information.

Terrorist groups such as Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh & Ansar Bangla Team attempted to establish bases in Assam. Assam Police and security services were able to prevent such attempts and arrest a number of the outfit’s cadres. Because of their deep roots in Bangladesh, the JMB and ABT found it easy to establish a presence in Assam. Sheikh Sultan Salahuddin, a member of the JeM, was detained by the NIA in Krishnai, Goalpara. He was detained based on solid technical evidence. The JeM is not planning to engage in violent acts in the near future, but the outfit’s primary goal at the present is to establish a base in Assam by inducting new members.
