Truecaller has launched a new UPI-based name verification feature for its Android Premium users in India. The Verified Badge, a highly sought-after feature, now allows users to authenticate their identity using the government-backed Unified Payments Interface (UPI), ensuring accuracy and credibility in digital communication.
This update comes in response to user demand for a more transparent and reliable verification process. The new feature enables users to verify their name using UPI, a method trusted by financial institutions, offering enhanced trust and security in communication.
Speaking on the launch, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer and MD of Truecaller India, said, “The new Verified Badge is a direct response to our Premium users’ requests for a more robust way to establish their identities. By integrating UPI-based verification, we ensure that user identities are both authentic and credible.” Currently available for Android Premium users, the Verified Badge will soon be rolled out to iPhone users. This move marks Truecaller’s commitment to making digital interactions more secure, with plans to expand the feature globally.
