Union Minister Giriraj Singh launches Bihar’s largest apparel training and production centre, empowers rural women

Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, inaugurated the Jeevika Didi Training Cum Production Centre in Begusarai, Bihar, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering rural women in the textiles sector. This 10,000 square foot facility, developed in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), NIFT Patna, and five Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), will provide specialized training in apparel, textiles, and e-commerce, equipping women to transform raw fabric into globally marketable products.

The center also focuses on creating sustainable business opportunities for women by offering financial literacy, digital marketing skills, and advanced production techniques. With the launch of this facility, Begusarai is set to become a hub for women-led entrepreneurship, fostering self-sufficiency and economic empowerment.

Guwahati, a growing center for textiles and handicrafts in the Northeast, is witnessing increasing demand for locally made products. The expansion of similar training centers and production units across the region will offer SHGs a direct route to larger markets like Guwahati, where the need for unique, handcrafted goods continues to rise.
