Value commerce gains momentum in Guwahati this festive season

Guwahati shoppers contributed actively to Shopsy’s festive momentum this year as smaller cities and emerging markets recorded a sharp rise in online orders. The company said that younger shoppers especially Gen Z and millennials formed the largest segment, together driving nearly 80 percent of total orders.

Guwahati-based retailers say online shoppers are increasingly choosing hypervalue platforms for lifestyle, electronics and fashion items during seasonal promotions. Diwali gifting trends were also visible in the region, with high interest in accessories, jewellery sets and beauty products.

Nationally, electronics was the top-performing category for Shopsy, followed by beauty and grooming, while winter-focused products such as moisturisers, socks, caps and personal care items reported high traction. Fashion remained a consistent driver across cities, with strong performance in women’s and men’s festive wear.

Company officials said repeat customer contribution touched 90 percent, up from 86 percent last season. Retail voices in Guwahati said this trend shows stronger confidence in reliable product selection and doorstep service, especially among first-time digital consumers.
